Just four years after Danish payment company Flatpay launched, it now serves more than 100,000 customers across Europe and is valued at €1.5 billion. In the past year alone its customer base has more than tripled, and revenue is growing at approximately 10% every month. The company’s target is one million customers by 2029.
In autumn 2025, Flatpay announced a valuation of €1.5 billion, achieving unicorn status — a valuation of over one billion US dollars — faster than any other Danish company in history. The company has now reached another significant milestone, surpassing 100,000 customers across its seven European markets.
“Flatpay is an extremely ambitious company, and we have always set very high targets for the number of customers we can win with our competitive payment solutions at a fair price. But it is truly remarkable to reach this milestone after only four years. I am truly grateful for the trust that thousands of business owners across Europe have placed in us, and for the tremendous team effort that makes it possible,” said Sander Janca-Jensen, CEO and Founder of Flatpay.
Flatpay’s recipe for success is built on a relentless focus on optimising every part of the business — in particular its innovative payment solutions, outstanding customer satisfaction and competitive pricing across all markets. This constant drive to deliver better products and services means Flatpay is now seeing significantly faster customer growth each time it scales and enters new markets.
“In our most recent market, the Netherlands, we are growing four times faster in terms of customer numbers than we were after four months in Germany when we launched there in 2023. That tells me that as a company we are constantly learning and sharpening our approach with every new expansion — and it gives me great confidence that we can continue to grow rapidly,” said Sander Janca-Jensen.
Flatpay believes continued growth is achievable because millions of small and medium-sized businesses are still underserved when it comes to better payment solutions and tools to manage their operations. The company therefore plans to continue its geographical expansion in the years ahead, while simultaneously launching new digital product categories designed to make life easier for its core customers.
“Our purpose is to make life easier for small and medium-sized business owners with genuinely good products and services at a competitive price. Our experience shows that this need extends well beyond payment solutions to many other aspects of running a business day to day. It therefore feels entirely natural for us to keep innovating and expanding — both in terms of the products we offer and the countries in which we operate,” said Sander Janca-Jensen.
