Flatpay, the Copenhagen-based payments company, today announced it has raised EUR 15 million in a series-A funding round, with participation from existing investor Seed Capital alongside new backers. The new funding will support further growth into new markets.
Founded in 2022 by Sander Janca-Jensen, Rasmus Busk, Peter Lüth, and Rasmus Hellmund Carlsen, Flatpay provides payment terminals and point-of-sale systems to small and medium-sized businesses, with a mission to bring greater transparency and better customer service to the payments industry.
Today the company announced that it has raised EUR 15 million. The investment will support continued growth in Flatpay's current markets, expansion of its product offering, and expansion in Germany, the company's first market outside the Nordics.
Commenting on the funding round, Sander Janca-Jensen, CEO and co-founder of Flatpay, said:
"We're seeing enormous demand for our products, and we want to keep building on that. Looking across the three markets, we are now active in, we see a clear need for what we offer, and we believe there's significant potential in reaching even more new markets. We intend to make the most of this potential in the coming years."
In its first year, the company has signed up 2,500 business customers across Denmark and Finland. In Germany, Flatpay is also seeing good growth with the head office in Berlin established earlier this year and expansion across the country now underway.
With the growth seen so far, the founder team envisions a future where Flatpay can grow into a very large company with a sizeable presence across Europe.
"This isn't the first venture we've built, but it's the one I'm most convinced will go the distance. My expectation is that within three to five years, Flatpay will be a leading name across Europe with a customer base north of 100,000, putting real unicorn status within reach, meaning a valuation above 1 billion USD. " Sander Janca-Jensen said.
