Summarize:

One of Europe’s fastest-growing fintech companies, Flatpay, is proud to announce that Danish racing driver Kevin Magnussen has joined the company as an investor and partner. An active retail investor alongside his racing career, Magnussen understands what small and medium-sized businesses need.

After more than a decade in Formula 1, Kevin Magnussen today races at the front of the FIA World Endurance Championship as a works driver for BMW M Motorsport. The Danish fintech Flatpay, which specialises in payment solutions for small and medium-sized businesses, is proud to welcome him as an investor and partner.

Having just announced that the company is now serving more than 100,000 businesses across Europe, Flatpay expects to remain a hypergrowth company in years to come. Kevin Magnussen joins to support this growth as the Danish unicorn’s fourth athlete investor, alongside Mario Götze, Paolo Maldini and Antoine Griezmann.

“We are expanding ultra-fast across Europe, and we are proud that someone like Kevin Magnussen wants to join us as a shareholder. What makes this such a natural fit is that Kevin is himself a retailer. Through his own investments, he knows exactly how much a modern, dependable payment partner matters day to day. That is precisely why Flatpay exists, so we share real common ground,” said Flatpay CEO and Co-Founder Sander Janca-Jensen.

Racing is like payments – a technology game

Kevin Magnussen is a well-established name in motorsport, having been a Formula 1 driver for a decade, with 185 starts and a podium on his 2014 debut. He now races at the front for BMW, taking a 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship win in São Paulo and a historic Le Mans pole.

Away from the track, Magnussen is an active private investor and owner of the Oakberry franchise in the Nordics, Germany and Austria with 22 stores selling healthy food on the go. His involvement in building this retail chain has given him first-hand knowledge of the challenges facing small and medium-sized retailers, and of how much reliable support matters.

“Being deeply committed to my own investments in retail has made me understand and appreciate the importance of having a trusted partner in areas such as payments. Having followed Flatpay on the sidelines and seen how the company has grown at record speed, I found it an easy decision to invest in the company and partner with them,” Kevin Magnussen said.

Drawing a parallel with payments, he highlights that motorsport is ultimately driven by technology and that any driver is completely dependent on having state-of-the-art gear which can deliver under the toughest conditions.

“When you run and develop a retail business, you are totally dependent on partnering with a payment provider who truly understands your deepest needs and can service you around the clock to keep the business running. In this I see a strong similarity with racing, and I am confident that Flatpay will finish first,” Kevin Magnussen said.

The partnership between Flatpay and Kevin Magnussen is effective immediately. No financial details of the agreement will be shared.

Flatpay is proud to have these athlete investors:

• Mario Götze, announced in 2024

• Paolo Maldini, announced in 2025

• Antoine Griezmann, announced in 2026

• Kevin Magnussen, announced in 2026
